About This Game Eschalon: Book I is an old-school role-playing game that will take you across massive outdoor environments and deep into dozens of sprawling dungeons as you seek to uncover the mystery of who you are. It features a tile-built, turn-based game world where the result of absolutely every action is rolled, calculated or statistically determined. Hundreds of items and dozens of creatures await your discovery in this classically inspired RPG. A tile-built, turn-based game world where the result of absolutely every action is rolled, calculated or statistically determined. Strategy is paramount to success; careful skill management, equipment selection and magic usage will win your fights, not rapid button clicking. We are very pleased to say this is not another "action RPG". Hundreds of items and dozens of creatures await your discovery. A combination of randomly generated treasure and carefully hidden goodies means that no two games will play the exact same way. Unlimited character development style: Choose from 24 unique skills to make the character you want and 8 base attributes that affect your character's every action throughout the game. The game world does not scale or adjust itself to match anyone's play style, so the ease or difficulty of the game is directly related to how successful you are at developing your character. Combat plays out at your pace. Eschalon: Book I features a turn-based system that allows you to roll through combat as fast or slow you want...make it fast and furious, or analyze every option for maximum advantage. A non-linear storyline means that the game world is open to explore as you desire. Follow the storyline or don't...it's up to you. Just be careful where you go and who you choose to trust- the world of Eschalon can be a deadly place for an inexperienced adventurer. An epic adventure that you must face alone...a single-player RPG carefully designed to feel like the great old school RPGs of the past such as Ultima®, Might & Magic®, and Wizardry® 1075eedd30 Title: Eschalon: Book IGenre: Indie, RPGDeveloper:Basilisk GamesPublisher:Basilisk GamesRelease Date: 17 Nov, 2007 Eschalon: Book I Pack eschalon book 2 foraging. eschalon book 3 alchemy. eschalon book 2 enter port. eschalon book 1 4 сундука. eschalon book 1 lilith. eschalon book 1 alchemy recipes. eschalon book 1 underground repository. eschalon book 1 potion of absolute restoration. eschalon book 1 cartography. eschalon book 1 cheat. eschalon book 2 editor. eschalon book 3 free download. eschalon book 1 character editor. eschalon book 2 plasma wand. eschalon book 2 map. eschalon book 1 ectoplasm. eschalon book 2 eastwillow. eschalon book 2 download full version. eschalon book 2 potions. eschalon book ii review. eschalon book 2 4 chests. eschalon book 1 character creation guide. eschalon book 1 skill trainers. eschalon book disease. eschalon book 1 cheat engine. eschalon book 1 walkthrough. eschalon book i walkthrough. eschalon book 3 spells. eschalon book 3 registration code. eschalon book 3 walkthrough. eschalon book 1 pick locks. eschalon book 2 broken blade. eschalon book i guide. eschalon book 1 mods. eschalon book 3 elderoak forest. eschalon book 3 disease. eschalon book 1 attributes. eschalon book 1 potion recipes. eschalon book 2 builds. eschalon book 2 lycanthrope. eschalon book 3 download. eschalon book 1 weapon fragments. eschalon book 4. eschalon book 1 ranger build. eschalon book 1 hive. eschalon book 1 lore. eschalon book i gog. eschalon book 1 spells. eschalon book 3 foraging. eschalon book 1 endings. eschalon book 1 fighter build. eschalon book 1 father michael. eschalon book 3 hammer. eschalon book 2 quick travel locations. eschalon book i cheats. eschalon book 2 quests. eschalon book 1 dungeon fever. eschalon book 2 bells. eschalon book 1 review. eschalon book 1 skills. eschalon book 1 lever puzzle. eschalon book 2 bronze puzzle. eschalon book 2 alchemy recipes. eschalon book 1 mysterious cave. eschalon book 2 4 сундука. eschalon book iii expansion. eschalon book iii. eschalon book 1 free download full game. eschalon book 1 higher resolution. eschalon book 1 cheat codes. eschalon book i. eschalon book i wiki Great old-school rpg, stat-heavy with turn based action, which you really wont notice that much since they have implemented it very well in the game.If you like games of this genre, this series is a fantastic addition to the collection! =). Older game doesn't really hold up. Cheap, yes, but beware. Most time spent slooooowly walking around and resting overnight after almost every fight. A lot of little annoying things add up to a very unenjoyable game.. This is a charming little turn-based isometric RPG with old school values like character building, exploration and roleplaying. The gameplay progresses in turns where every movement or action you make counts as one "round" and all enemies and NPCs take their turns between your own. If you stand still and do nothing, nothing moves, so you are free to plan your strategy as carefully as you like. The whole thing is VERY slow-paced so it's a game where you really just want to relax and take your time. After rolling your character you're dropped into a quaint little fantasy world that is comforting in its simplicity yet has clearly had quite a bit of work done to make it detailed. Playing this game makes you feel like you've been transported back to the 90s.However the game has several design flaws which made it hard to enjoy. The tactics I was using to progress in the game felt cheap and not very fun, yet I felt as though it would be impossible to play without using those tactics. I rolled a pure magic-user character and got to about level 5. By this level, it would take about 3-4 casts of my strongest spell to kill one regular enemy. Doing this would deplete around 30 mana points, and I only had about 80 mana points in total. Even with high levels of perception and the meditation skill, it would take about 12 rounds to regenerate 1 mana point, so relying on this was unviable. I was in a position where I could only defeat 2, maybe 3 enemies before I was out of mana points. The strategy I had to adopt to get around this was to kill a few enemies, run away from combat until I was far enough out of range to rest, then save. Then I would rest to regenerate some mana points, then stop and quickly save again before I got ambushed. Repeat this until all mana points are restored, then return to combat. If I was ambushed while resting, just reload the save and try again. This whole tactic is super cheap yet I felt I had no choice but to play like this. If I played without this "retreat, save, rest" strategy, I would quickly run out of mana and have no way to keep fighting. Skill points are extremely limited, so I had to focus them all on improving my magic skills. I had no weapon skills, so attempting to fight enemies with weapons after running out of mana would just have resulted in my death. I couldn't bring a big stock of mana potions, because they're so expensive that even if I sold everything I picked up, I couldn't afford enough to supply my need. Unless you have very high Mercantile skill, merchants will charge you twice what an item is worth to buy, and only give you half of what it's worth when you sell. Even with the Alchemy skill, ingredients are also too expensive from merchants and not easily found otherwise. I also felt forced to savescum while resting because getting into an ambush battle would just deplete all the mana I had saved up from resting, if not outright kill me (forcing me to reload anyway). So basically the game practically encourages you to savescum and use cheap tactics because it's too difficult to progress otherwise. I respect the idea that your character doesn't start out super powerful, and they are highly limited by your choice of build, but Eschalon kind of takes it too far where everything is so restrictive that you have to resort to lame, not-fun gameplay to progress. I felt pretty powerful using magic, so I can only imagine how difficult it would be for someone who didn't know what they were getting into and picked a lot of non-combat skills.Besides this the game just has several other things that come off as overly strict or unfair. Getting diseased severely cripples your ability to regenerate HP and mana (which is crucial for progress) and it's easy to do it by accident with no real way of avoiding it. Yet curing disease is extremely expensive, to the point where depending on how you're using your money you might not even be able to afford it. It's such a handicap and so cumbersome to cure that if you get diseased, it's probably easier to just reload an earlier save. This is the kind of thing which holds the game back from being an enjoyable RPG experience. It's so punishing that you can't really just get immersed in the roleplaying and enjoy yourself. It's possible I am missing something that would have enabled a more fair style of play as I only played for about 5 hours, but in that case it would still be the game's fault for not introducing me to whatever that thing might be.Overall Eschalon has a charming aesthetic and admirable old-school RPG values but is bogged down by its strictness and unfairness which will inevitably lead you to playing in an annoying way.. An extremely humble RPG that manages to keep you hooked despite being rather old school. Not old school enough to make you bite your fingers off, but old school nontheless. It's a bit rough around the edges and another RPG where not everything is useful, bit it's a fun little adventure.. Horrible gameplay it's like a game made in the early 90's. you move so slow even with great gaming computer. Wizardry 6 puts ito shame.. If you like old school single character RPGs than Eschalon is exactly what you're looking for. It's 2-D slightly skewed perspective is reminiscent of the later Ultima games, while the character development is more on par with a Baldur's Gate game, allowing you to choose which skills and spells to improve as you level. The story is simple but effective, and you consistantly feel there is a purpose to your actions, propeling you on to the next area or quest. It's simple old school fun in an RPG, and it works. Eschalon Books I and II provide hours of entertaining gameplay and are recommended for anyone looking for that early 90's feel from an RPG.. A lot of fun! Old school rpg♥♥♥♥♥♥
